The next civil war
Are we going to see riots in the streets here in the US as we saw in France? Will we see riots and unrest by the unemployed and unassimilated?
I wonder what the future brings us as we see the ever growing "undocumtnted", or as I call them, illeagle populace. Will we see a giant backlash against those coming here from south of the border? Will the communitiees that are 'spanish only" become isolated(even more) from the rest of us to the degree that we see violence in the streets?
I know of no one who wants to stop immigration into the US. I know many who want the illeagle flow of law breakers to stop. I want to see the local law enforcement agencies stop the daily occurance on Rt. 46 in Pinebrook of day lobor line up and contractors in pick-up trucks and vans pick them up. I want to go to my bank ATM or call just one customer service department and not have to pick the language I need to speak/do business in.
One of the reasons I voted for Bush was that he would put an end to the illeagle immigration problem. I want to see our borders closed. But I want a gate there for anyone from any country to be able to come here and make this their home. It goes without saying that all those who come here and want to fit in must make some important decisions, not the least of which is learning english. I recently saw three young hispanic men come to a job I was on to spackle. They were very good. Fast. Professional. But they could not speak any english and thus were working for someone else and getting minimum wage for, again, very good work. These young men could be driving a new van with their own company name on it and benefiting from their labor, if they could only speak the language.
